Virginia M. “Ginger” Sheller, 86 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Sunday January 24, 2021. Ginger was God’s Gift to Us on May 19, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Roy E. and Polly A. (Buzek) Lucas, Sr. A lifetime Garrettsville area resident, she had been a graduate of James A. Garfield High School, and a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville. Mrs. Sheller had been employed as a clerical assistant at James A. Garfield school district elementary school, along with various other positions within the school district until her retirement. During her lifetime, she remained extremely active enjoying camping, gardening, horses, and was known to be a frequent supporter of “McDonalds” locally, and wherever her travels would take her. “Ginger” was truly the Matriarch of her family, and it was at her home where all the holiday and special occasion meals were held, as well as many other times for family, and friends. She loved having family together, and the warm, infectious smile of “Ginger” created memories that will never be forgotten. On September 3, 1955, she married her beloved husband David Sheller who preceded her in death in 2019. Also preceding was her devoted son David “Tom” Sheller in 2004, daughter Beverly R. Sheller in 2018, son-in-law John Pickett in 2016, and dear sister Hazel Beatty in 2020, and dear brother Roy E. Lucas, Jr. She is survived by her devoted daughters Polly A. (David) Winchell, Susan L. Pickett, both of Garrettsville, Mary A. (Jeffrey) Chance of Florida; dear siblings , Mary Ann Nitsky of Aurora, and Homer O. Lucas, Sr. of Garrettsville. 7 loving grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Her loving kitty children, Louie and Thelma will also miss her dearly. Private family visitation only. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday January 29, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 10692 Freedom St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231, with Rev. Edward Stafford officiating. ( EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH). Final resting place will follow at Drakesburg Cemetery, Freedom Township, Ohio. Face masks and social distancing will be observed at the church and cemetery.
