Sandra Jean Taylor, 62 years of age, passed away Monday January 18, 2021 at her residence. Born in Cleveland Hts., Ohio on November 23, 1958, she is the daughter of Donald and Carolyn (McConnell) Smith. A lifetime Mantua resident, Sandy was a graduate of Crestwood High School in 1977, and a member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church. In 1998 Sandy began her career at Kent State University, where she later became the Business Manager in the College of Communication and Information, a position she held at the time of her passing. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and was an accomplished cross stitcher, yet her fondest times were those spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren creating memories that will remain forever. On October 17, 1981, she married her devoted husband Ted Taylor who survives at home. Also surviving are her beloved children Timothy Taylor of Mantua, Torrey (Lora Cope) Taylor of Ypsilanti, Michigan; loving parents Donald and Carolyn Smith of Garrettsville; dear siblings Tammy (Ron) Fischer of Rock Hill, South Carolina, twin brothers Donald (Monica) Smith of Garrettsville and Ronald (Niki) Smith of Florida; cherished grandchildren Kaeley and Elinor, and sister-in-law Leslie Smith of Twinsburg. She was preceded in death by her dear brother Greg Smith. No calling hours. A private graveside service will be Saturday January 23, 2021 at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township with Pastor William Graham officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either Portage Faith UMC, 9922 State Route 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, or to Kent State Foundation, 800 East Summit St., Kent, Ohio 44242.
