Ruth E. Rezabek, 83 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Kent Ridge Senior Living with her loving family by her side. Ruth was God’s Gift to Us on December 25, 1936 at Windham Township, Ohio, the daughter of the late Merrick and Anna (Fisher) Sloan. She was a lifetime Garrettsville area resident, and a 1954 graduate of James A. Garfield High School. Following graduating from Boheckers Business College, she was employed as a secretary at the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, where she remained as a lifetime member. Ruth was the Tax Administrator for the Village of Garrettsville for many years. Ruth enjoyed an active life that included membership in the Red Hat Club with the girls she graduated from High School. As a volunteer for the American Heart Association, and Hospice volunteer, she gave back to her community. She enjoyed playing Bridge with friends, and keeping friendships long established. Her most precious times were those spent with her family, including the trips that she and Chuck took, the special times at Christmas, and especially summertime by the pool and back porch watching the birds. Her warm infectious smile, and loving care for others will never be forgotten. In October of 1966, she married Earl (Buck) Pelsue whose passing took place in January of 1978. Also preceding her in death were her children Mack Pelsue, Charlie Pelsue, Burt Pelsue, and Steve Rezabek. On December 7, 1979, Ruth married Charles Rezabek, who survives at their home. Also surviving are her children Cindy (Kenny) Hughes of Diamond, Brenda Staker of Canton, Denise (Lee) Cook of Bristolville, Gary (Debbie) Rezabek of Warren, and Jane (Pat) Kennedy of Espyville, Pennsylvania. Her grandchildren Nick (Gladys) Rezabek, Chris (Katie) Rezabek, Jeff (Cassie) Rezabek, Aaron (Courtney) Kennedy, Nathan (Rebecca) Kennedy, Alex Jameson, Sarah ( Josh Jahns) Staker, Nelson Hughes and Carson Hughes, 13 great-grandchildren, and sisters Arlene of Oklahoma and Carrie of Warren, also survive. Calling hours will be Wednesday November 18, 2020 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 Noon, where Pastor Kenny Hagin of the Deerfield Friends Church will officiate at her service beginning at Noon. Final resting place will follow at Park Cemetery, Garrettsville, Ohio. Social distancing, masks, and current health guidelines will be observed. For those unable to attend the funeral service, procession to the cemetery will be permitted.
