Robert Roy Papesh Sr., 75 years of age of Ravenna, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Ravenna, Ohio.  Born October 26, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Jerry and Hilda (Ware) Papesh.  A Ravenna area resident the past 26 years, he grew up in Cleveland.  In 1965, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he the proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era.  His combat time included receiving The Parachute Badge, Marksman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal Combat Infantry Badge and a Purple Heart Commendation Medal.  Bob was a member of V.F.W. Post #0331 in Ravenna, and of the American Legion.  He had been employed as an iron worker for Local 17 in Cleveland, from where he then retired.  Bob will be remembered as a very generous man with an extremely outgoing personality, and that he was not afraid to share his opinion.  On May 1, 1987, he married Josephine (Lionti) Papesh  who survives at home.  Additional survivors include his children Robert (Lisa) Papesh Jr., Jarred Papesh, Michael (Rachel) Lovano, and Michelle (Colin) Szitas, all of Cleveland.  His sister Joanne Pernell of Cleveland, 7 grandchildren 7 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces also survive.  Six brothers and 1 sister predeceased him.  Calling hours will be Friday, May 5, 2023, at The Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio, 44255, (S. of St. Rt. 422), from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a brief closing prayer at 7:00 P.M.  Full military honors at the funeral home will then be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion , Post #193.  Final resting place will be at The Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 12:30 P.M (EVERYONE MEET AT THE CEMETERY AT 12:15 P.M.)  His video tribute, condolences, and memories may be viewed at www.greenfamilyfuneralhome.com
