Patricia A. Sargent, 89 years of age, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday November 9, 2020. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late David and Helen (Patrick) Sabine. A graduate of Solon High School in 1949, Pat then continued her education, and was a 1952 graduate of Huron Road Nursing School. She then was employed as a RN at Huron Road Hospital, and Hattie Larlham Center. A resident of the Shalersville-Mantua area since 1961, Pat was one of the early individuals starting in 1981 associated with the 4C’s Food Cupboard. Over the years her involvement with the 4C’s became a passion of hers. Pat was always looking to help others, and her warm smile and organizational skills were a true asset to the public, and those she worked side by side with. Holidays were especially busy, and Pat made sure that no one was forgotten. As a former president of the Crestwood PTA and president of the Crestwood Band Patrons, her community care for children was again evident. While all of her public involvements were important, Pat’s devotion to her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was seen as she attended and supported them in all of their activities. Pat will truly be missed by everyone, including her church family at the Mantua Center Christian Church where she was a very active member serving whenever needed. On September 5, 1953, she married Howard F. Sargent who preceded her in death on January 31, 2015. She is survived by her children David Sargent of Shalersville, Doris (James) Leister of Mantua, Barbara (Jack) Fisher of Kent, Martha (Peter) Halemba of Novelty, and Carol (Doug) Golden of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Her brother Ted (Fran) Sabine of Potomac, Maryland, 10 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren also survive. No calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday November 13, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville Township with Pastor Chad Delaney officiating. Social distancing including facial covering will be observed at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the 4C’s, P.O. Box 227, Mantua, Ohio 44255, or the Hattie Larlham Foundation, 9772 Diagonal Road, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where her video tribute, condolences and memories may be viewed at www.greenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
