Elbert “Mack” Gibson, 78 years of age, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021. Born in Wharton, West Virginia on January 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Elbert and Roma (Cabell) Gibson. A resident of Shalersville since 1971, he had been employed at General Motors Lordstown for 30 years from where he retired. Mack also worked with his wife, Chris, in the Gibson Painting & Contracting company for many years. He was a member of Holy Lamb of God Church in Alliance. Working was his hobby and the times he spent with his grandchildren created cherished memories for those who remain. Mack loved to “ talk” with his many friends in Shalersville and was never at a loss for words. On August 30, 1986, he married Chris (King) Gibson who survives at home. Also surviving are his children Jesse Gibson of Phoenix, Arizona, Jeremy (Annette) Martin of Newton Falls, Michael (Renee) Martin, Harley (Ruthie) Gibson, and Brookie Davis all of Freedom Twp., Celeste (Paul) Miller of Ft. Myers, Florida, Katie (Wayne Zink) Horn of Ravenna, and Amanda (Tony)Rey of West Palm Beach, Florida. Many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his son Travis Mack Gibson in 2013. Calling hours will be Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M., where his funeral service will then begin at Noon. Officiating will be Mr. Michael Martin. Social distancing and face masks will be observed. For those unable to attend the service, procession to the cemetery will form at the funeral home at 11:45 A.M. Final resting place will be at Riverside Cemetery, Shalersville Twp., Ohio.
