Kenneth R. Monroe passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the age of 95. Husband to Eleanor, father to Todd and Tim, proud Grandpa and Great Grandpa to 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Whether you knew him as Kenny, Duke, Dad, or Grandpa you knew he was a gentle soul and a hard worker. Kenny was born on April 17, 1925 in Mantua Township to Earl and Sarah (Gola Wilcox). He grew up on a farm, attended Mantua Township Schoolhouse, graduating in 1943. He married Eleanor (Profant) of Mantua in 1947 and they had 73 years of marriage together as they watched their family and community grow. He spent most of his career in the farming industry including repairing farm equipment at Paul G. Mills before working at and retiring from Vanguard Plastics as a fabricator. His family was his pride and joy. He never missed his sons’ or grandkids’ games, matches or recitals. He loved fishing (on Mosquito Lake, LaDue Reservoir, and on vacation on Watts Bar Lake in Tennessee), mowing the lawn, tinkering with and fixing things, and teaching his family about these things…whether they wanted to learn or not. Kenneth will be reunited with his parents, Earl and Sarah (Gola Wilcox) and his siblings Lee, Herbert, Lynn, and Jeanette (Krohn). He is survived and will be missed by his wife, Eleanor, son Todd and his wife Vicki, son Tim and his wife Patty, grandkids Danielle (Jim), Brittany (Donnie), Sarah (George), Jared (Ashley), Joe (Maggie), Matt (Madison), and great-grandchildren Lila, Tripp, Carter, Pippa, Decker, Eleanor, and Adeline. Calling hours will be held Saturday September 5, 2020 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 from 9:30 A.M.-11:00 A.M., where his funeral service will then begin at 11:00 A.M. Facial masks and social distancing will be required. For those unable to attend the funeral service, procession to the cemetery will form at 10:45 A.M. Officiating will be James Mazanec.
