Kenneth W. “Ken” DeYoung, 85 years of age, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital. Ken was born Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1935 in Ravenna, Ohio, the son of the late Gus and Lina (Harris) DeYoung. Ken had been employed for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, The Buckeye Pipeline, and Kent State University before becoming a self- employed carpenter and handyman until his retirement. Ken loved to talk about his passion of all things railroad, and continued to build small wooden projects for family and friends. He held memberships in the Erie Lackawanna and NYC Historical Societies. His story telling, sense of humor, and smile will always be remembered by all who knew him. A graduate of Ravenna High School, he had been a longtime Mantua resident, and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. On October 4, 1997, he married Judy (Engelhart) DeYoung who survives at their home. He is also survived by his sons Lorne (Debra) DeYoung of Southington, Ohio, Jason (Lisa) DeYoung of Hubert, NC, Thomas Gilmore of Cuyahoga Falls, brothers, Jack DeYoung of Florida and Gerry DeYoung of Windham, and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his 1st. wife Mary Therese (Laczko) DeYoung, sister Alberta Ellwood, and step-son Paul Gilmore. Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held Thursday September 30, 2021 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, from 5:00 P.M.-6:30 P.M., where his memorial service will then begin at 6:30 P.M. with Rev.
