Obituary

AURORA

On May 25th, 2021, Karsten Eric Feda completed his long pilgrimage towards heaven and entered the presence of his Heavenly Father. Left behind to continue the journey are his parents Brian and Caroline (nee Gebhardt), his sister Gabrielle, and his opa Alfred Gebhardt. Preceding him in death are his oma Hildegard Gebhardt and grandma Ruth Feda.

Growing up, Karsten was a happy, active boy. He enjoyed participating in sports, going fishing, listening to Christian music, and spending time with his family. A diligent student, he had a keen interest in math and science and was looking forward to going to college and studying electrical engineering.

In October 2017, a few days after his 16th birthday, he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that had spread to his lungs. For three and a half years, he patiently endured chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and surgery, never complaining about how much pain he was in or the emotional toll it took on him. More than anything else, Karsten wanted his life to conform to the image of Christ. He studied the Word of God with passion, seeking to have a correct understanding of the Gospel, God, and biblical doctrine. Karsten enjoyed discussing theology with his family and friends, always seeking to have what he believed supported by Scripture and carefully considering the statements of others to see whether or not they were in line with what God had declared about Himself. His favorite book of the Bible was Romans, and he memorized numerous passages of Scripture over the course of his life, including the book of 1 John.

Karsten truly was a gift from God to his family, often bringing joy and laughter to them even on the days when he didn’t feel well. Creative, funny, and above all committed to Christ, he has left an unmistakable mark on all those who knew him as well as a large void in the hearts of his family. We look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

A private burial service will be held at the family’s request. Details are pending for a celebration of Karsten’s life that will take place sometime in June and to which all those who knew and loved Karsten are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to HeartCry Missionary Society, P.O. Box 3506, Radford, Virginia 24143-3506. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where condolences and memories may be viewed at www.greenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
