Obituary

MIDDLEFIELD-MANTUA

Karen Jean Fellenstein, 74 of Middlefield, formerly of Mantua, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021,  after a long time diagnosis of cancer.  Karen is survived by her husband of 53 years James Raymond Fellenstein.  Daughters Kristin(Michael) Ristau of Hiram and Tracy(Doug) Stewart of Las Vegas, NV.  Three grandchildren Heather(Joshua) Parr of Aurora, Matthew (Stacey Larch) Ristau of Shalersville, and Kellie Ristau of Hiram.  One great grandson, Colton Ristau.  She has always had a deep love for her many dogs throughout the years and her current four legged friend Maizy stayed at her side throughout her illness. This brought her great joy and comfort and always brought a smile to her face.

Karen was born on October 14, 1947 in Cleveland, OH.  She was the daughter of the late John and Georgia (Ashbaugh) Yaros.  On September 14, 1968 she married her high school sweetheart Jim and went on to enjoy her time as a housewife.

As her children were growing up, she loved watching them show their Arabian horses at numerous shows around Portage County and assisted them with their many 4 H activities.

Karen was a longtime member of the Northeast Ohio Vette Club where she and Jim enjoyed car shows with their corvette known as Vetzila and dinners with club friends.

Jim and Karen loved to travel to far away beaches and went on several cruises together throughout the years, and their trips to Las Vegas visiting their daughter Tracy and her husband Doug Stewart, also brought so much enjoyment for all.

After Jim’s retirement, they went on multiple camping trips both in and out of state in their motorhome where they enjoyed walks to the lake and campfires, always taking their dog along.

She continually supported her grandchildren in all of their many endeavors.  You could always count on her to be their “biggest fan” and cheer them on during dance competitions, baseball games, soccer matches and all of their several other activities.  Her grandkids knew if they ever needed anything that they could always count on Grammy to get it for them.  She will be missed dearly.  No calling hours. A private funeral service is being held Saturday at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua. Final resting place will then follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Twp., Ohio.  Condolences and memories may be viewed www.greenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
