Joseph E. Ivanye, 89 years of age, passed away Monday February 3, 2020. Born in Strongsville, Ohio on April 2, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Sedlak) Ivanye. A resident of Aurora since 1996, Mr. Ivanye was a graduate of Strongsville High School, following which he earned his Bachelor of Arts from Baldwin-Wallace College, and his Master’s in Education from Case Western Reserve. Mr. Ivanye taught at Lander Elementary 5th.grade retiring after 30 years of service. During the Korean Conflict, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a longtime member of American Legion Post # 0803 in Aurora, and the NRA. While he enjoyed cooking, gardening, gun collecting and reading, he will also be remembered for smoking his pipe, hiking and picnics in the park with his family. On September 9, 1950, he married Stella Ivanye who passed away in 2002 after over 50 years of marriage. His sister Margie Owen also preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughters Marcia Ivanye of Lyndhurst, Beverly (Bob) Bowland of South Euclid. Carolyn (Robin Roth) Ivanye of Lyndhurst and Rosie (John) Skocdopole of Aurora, his sister Genny Price of Dallas, Texas, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. No calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Final resting place will be at Knollwood Cemetery.
