John Frank Zsoldos, 98 years old, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at his residence. Born in Solon, Ohio on March 9, 1924, he was the son of the late John Paul and Joan (Szarka) Zsoldos. John graduated from Aurora High School in 1942, following which he joined the Army in 1944. He served as a paratrooper and radio operator spending time in Japan following WWII. When he returned, he studied at Kent State University earning a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1951. He put his studies to work at the Schrader Bellows accounting department where he dedicated 31 years of service. Upon retiring, he devoted 17 years to the community as the Clerk of the Mantua-Shalersville Fire District Board. In his spare time, he farmed the family property in Aurora, and performed accounting services for community businesses. He loved playing backgammon, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
On June 5, 1953, he married Donna Dumperth having proven himself worthy by taking dance lessons at Arthur Murray dance studio and winning her heart. Johnand Donna had two children, John Eugene (Cheryl) and luEllen lrmen (Michael McHaffie). He was preceded in death by his loving son John E., wife Donna and sister Joan Dodie. He has 4 loving grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who loved listening to him tell stories about his military service and being young and wild during the prohibition. The family will have a private gathering to celebrate John's memory and he will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ducks Unlimited or a charity of your choice.
