Joe Clay, 86 years of age, passed away Thursday January 9, 2020 at his residence. Born in Logan, West Virginia on November 19, 1933, he was the son of the late John M. and Esta (Eplin) Clay. A resident of the Hiram area since 1988, Joe had been employed at Jorgensen Steel in Bedford Hts. as assistant district manager. He served his country during the Korean Conflict with honor in the U.S. Marine Corps. Joe truly enjoyed the outdoors fishing, bow hunting and gardening were his favorite pastimes. He was a member of W.K. Ricksecker Masonic Lodge No. 606 F.&A.M. in Aurora. He will be remembered as a man who made friends wherever he went, and considered his neighbors as a part of his family. On March 26, 1971, Joe married Margaret (Moore) Clay who survives at their home. Also surviving are his children Joey (Pat) Clay of Windham, Karen (Michael) Resh of Mantua, Kimberly Mate of Hiram and Joanne (Al) Masciarelli of Cleveland, Ohio; his siblings Ralph Clay of Michigan and Pearl Daniels of Arizona. 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his siblings Frank and Harry Clay, Ann Napier and Audra McKinney, and his loving dog Angel. Calling hours will be Sunday January 12, 2020 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. where his service will begin at 4:00 P.M. Military honors will the conclude his service provided by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. Cremation will follow.
