James A. Splittorf, 80 years of age, passed away Sunday January 24, 2021, at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Born in Cleveland on July 27, 1940, he was the son of the late Arthur and Henryetta (Montjoy) Splittorf. A lifetime area resident, Jim was a 1958 graduate of Crestwood High School. He had been employed as a construction superintendent for Umbaugh Pole Building, and in 1973, Jim and his brother formed J&J Builders, which later became Triple J Builders that he operated until his retirement. Jim enjoyed watching sports on T.V., traveling throughout the United States, and the numerous times he and Joyce went to Niagara Falls. Jim will also be remembered for the times he spent making improvements on their home, and simply “tinkering” with whatever needed his attention. On May 30, 1964, he married Joyce (Leschinsky) Splittorf whom survives at home. Also surviving is his daughter Julie Splittorf of Mantua; his brother John “Jack” (Sheila) Splittorf of South Carolina; grandchildren Vince, Luke, and Joel VanAuken, and great-grandchildren Ross and Rian VanAuken. No calling hours or services. All services are private with final resting place to follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Ohio.
