Harold O. Cain,Sr.

December 22, 1929 ~ May 16, 2020 (age 90)



Harold Oliver Cain, Sr., 90 years of age, passed away Saturday May 16, 2020 at his residence. Born December 22, 1929 at home in Freedom Twp., Ohio, the son of the late James Henry and Della (Tickel) Cain. On July 3, 1954 he married Martha Ann Harris who preceded him in death on November 30, 2019. Mr. Cain was a lifetime resident, and a carpenter by trade. On January 14, 1949 he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged on September 2, 1952. Mr. Cain coached Little League for his sons, was a licensed Pilot of his own plane, loved to fly, play golf and spend time with his family. He is survived by his children Harold (Donna) Cain, Jr. of Texas, Lysle (Linda) Cain of Florida, Charlie (Lynette) Cain, Lois (Tom) Schaffer and Carol (Dave) Slaughter all of Garrettsville, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and brothers Lloyd Cain of Garrettsville and Don McCort of West Virginia. In addition to his wife of 65 years, he was preceded in death by his son Walter, daughter Sally, sisters Mildred, Rose, Laura and Josie, and brothers Raymond (Sonny),James Henry, Jr., Clyde, John, Robert, and Edgar (Pete). A private graveside service and burial will be held at Drakesburg Cemetery, Freedom Twp., where military honors will be provided by members of the U.S. Army Honor Guard, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193.
