Gerald “Jerry” Clark Fields, 84, of Hiram, passed away peacefully July 5, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born November 30, 1935 in Ravenna, Ohio, Jerry was the 9th of 11 children born to the late Joseph and Anna (Curtiss) Fields. After graduating from Hiram High School, he was employed by Samuel Moore & Co. in Mantua, as an Engineer in Research and Development and later as Plant Foreman. It was there he won the heart of the beautiful secretary, Mary Ann Jacoby. Jerry admitted to squealing his tires in the parking lot to impress her. Apparently it worked and they were married September 8, 1956. Not long after, Jerry was drafted into the US Army and sent to Fort Hood, Texas. He was later deployed to Crailsheim, Germany where Mary Ann joined him to explore Europe together. Upon their return they bought a home and, later, their beloved farm where they raised their three children. Jerry's faith and devotion to his wife of 61 years never wavered and he lovingly cared for her throughout a lengthy illness until her passing in 2017. Jerry will be remembered for his Scotch Irish humor, his honesty, integrity, and generosity. He was well known for helping others in need and, also, for his ability to fix absolutely anything, sometimes just by simply touching it. He is survived by his son Curtiss (Kami) Fields of North Olmsted, daughters Laura J. of Garrettsville, and Lisa A. of Dayton; Beloved grandchildren Ryan, Alicia (Tim), Marissa, and Marina (David); great grandson Dean; brother Frank Fields of Seattle, WA, twin sisters June Humr of Coventry and Jean Garris of Lynchburg, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins dear to his heart. Jerry was preceded in death by wife Mary Ann and siblings Mary, Josephine, Gertrude, Stanley, Al, Carlyle, and Joseph. Cremation has taken place and final resting place will be Fairview Cemetery in Hiram. Details for a future graveside service are pending. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua where condolences and memories may be viewed at www.greenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
