Fred R. Sittner

March 31, 1954 ~ December 26, 2021 (age 67)

Fred Richard Sittner, 67 years of age, of Mantua, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 from complications of cancer.Born in Lakewood, Ohio on March 31, 1954, Fred was the son of the late Kurt and Ingeburg (Andresen) Sittner.  A 1972 graduate of Avon Lake High School, he went on to Lorain Community College where he received a degree in Engineering and Graphics Design Technology in 1974.   Fred worked with several engineering firms over the years and retired in September 2020 as a Lead Piping Designer at Chemstress Consultant Company in Akron, Ohio.  On June 28, 1986, he married his cherished wife, Amy (Brant) Sittner, who remains at their Mantua home with their beloved children, Erin and Shawn. Also surviving are his brother, Richard, of Avon Lake, several sister- and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, many cousins in Germany and countless special friends. Heart-warming memories of a loving and devoted husband, father and friend will remain forever with those who knew him. With a generous heart as big as his stature, Fred had a quick wit that was sure to bring a laugh and a smile. He appreciated the silly antics of The Three Stooges which he shared with his family and nieces and nephews, enjoyed collecting antique oil cans, and spending time at home with his family. Fred was a founding member of the Hiram Farm Living and Learning Community established in 2009 as an agricultural setting serving adults with developmental disabilities with an emphasis on adults on the autism spectrum.  It was a dream come true for Fred that his son and others are provided opportunities to grow, learn, and work in a setting focused on respect for individuals and the environment. Fred spent countless hours helping with barn construction at the Farm alongside his brother-in-law, Cal Brant, board members, family members and countless volunteers.  He served on the Property and Building Committee to promote the Farm’s growth, and most recently as a board member. No calling hours will be held at this time and cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at a later date. Friends or family interested in making donations in Fred’s memory to honor his son, Shawn, the family suggests: Hiram Farm, P.O. Box 157  Hiram, OH  44234.
