Edward C. Komlo, 88 years of age, passed away Sunday April 26, 2020 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Hts., Ohio. Born in East Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on November 18, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Bertha (Farkas) Komlo. He was a graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School in Jefferson, Pennsylvania, and had been a resident of the Aurora area since 1962. During the Korean Conflict he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Ed was employed as a printer at Bedford Lithograph from where he then retired. For many years he was employed as a horse trainer at Thistledown Race Track, as well as owning and training Thoroughbred Race Horses at his farm where he enjoyed riding his Kubota tractor. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mantua. He is survived by his longtime loving companion Karen Novak at home; his children Stacie (Bill) Shearouse of Florida and Michael (Jennifer ) Komlo of Georgia; his siblings William Komlo of Maryland, Audrey Grilus of Pennsylvania, Barbara Fee of Solon and Joyce D’Angelo of California, and 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. No calling hours or services. Private burial will take place at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Ohio with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
