Donald Ray Cullen, age 83, of Newbury, OH was called Home suddenly on March 4th 2021. Born in Akron, OH on Feb 21st 1938 to parents, Henry and Della (Runner) Cullen. He graduated from North High School in Akron in 1956. He was a member of the Army Reserves prior to assuming an apprenticeship at Ohio Edison, where he learned to design power substations. Don met and married his wife of 51 years, Judy (Bonner) Cullen, while working together at a common power design company before becoming part owners of a new venture, Power Substations Inc. in Solon, OH. In 1984, he joined his wife in running her own business, Let’s Go Travel Agency in Newbury, OH. From detailing steel to carpentry, from landscaping to electrical repairs, Don was a jack of all trades. His passion was golfing with his buddies, fishing when he could and enjoying a cold one at The Patio Lounge. He cherished his trips to Canada with his nephew, family and close friends, numerous golf trips to Myrtle Beach with his buddies, cruising and vacationing with his family and his annual “Pig Farm” reunion with friends. Don was a diehard fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers and Ohio State Buckeyes. For many years, Don was known to tour the roads of Geauga County driving his red Ford Phaeton replica convertible.He is survived by his wife; daughters, Toni (Earl) Wilson and Terri (Bryan) Wise; grandchildren, Emily Wilson, Noah Wilson, Madi Wilson, Oliva Wilson, Jayna Wise, Kyler Wise and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Virginia Swift, Joanne Wearley, Mary Price; his brother, Julian Cullen and grandson, Colton Wise. Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life Service will be set at a later date to honor his memory. No calling hours. In lieu of flowers, Don would have wanted donations to go to the non-profit, in his grandson’s memory, The Colton Wise Memorial Foundation located at 8797 Chatham Rd, Medina, OH 44256 (OurPeaceofHeaven.org).
