Dennis Craig Lange, 68 years of age, passed away Sunday January 24, 2021 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio after a courageous battle due to COVID-19. He grew up in Mantua, and was a 1970 graduate of Crestwood High School. Over the years he became well known both as a visionary, and entrepreneur, establishing “The Coffee Shop”, and the opening of “Pumpernickels”, which became the meeting place for locals . As he was involved with politics in Mantua, he soon became politically active in Toledo. Dennis helped lead the development of the Agnes Reynolds Jackson Arboretum with its dedication in 1986, whereas the first chairman, he directed and oversaw the planting of over 60 varieties of trees, flowering shrubs and bushes. Dennis gave of himself in so many ways, including the OWE Association as both chairman for several years, Food Chair for the OWE Festival, Co-chairing Tours de Noel, opening his home for New Year’s and Mardi Gras parties, his involvement with the Lucas County Fair, and whenever needed, Dennis was there to help anyone, and everyone. Dennis loved everything about Christmas, collected Santa Clauses, and was an avid gardener and a wonderful cook. While his life came to an end too soon, let his love for others, his desire to do good deeds, remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
