Daniel A. “Dan” Gonczy, 85 years of age, was God’s Gift to Us on March 16, 1935, born in the family home in Mantua Township, the son of the late Gabriel and Elizabeth Gonczy. Dan went home to be with the Lord Friday July 31, 2020 at his residence in Mantua surrounded by his loving family. A lifetime area resident, he graduated from Mantua-Shalersville High School in 1953, following which he attended and graduated from Kent State University in 1961 earning a degree in Industrial Engineering. Dan proudly served his country in the National Guard in the U.S. Army. He was employed for 25 years at Carlon Products, then at West Park Estates in Ravenna for 25 years until his retirement. As a young man, Dan gave his life to the Lord. He grew in faith and shared God’s love with many through the years. As a member of His Ministry, the church that he assisted in the building , Dan shared his wisdom and talents in every phase of the church. Assisting young people at church was very important, as was his involvement with all aspects of the church. He will always be remembered working in the control room at church, having early choir practices at the family home, and of helping family and others. His legacy will live on forever. At the age of 15, Judy would come to know the love of her life, and on August 26, 1961, Danny and Judy would be joined together in a life of love and respect until he was called home to the Lord. Danny is survived by his beloved wife Judy (Bramley) Gonczy, his devoted children Mark (Marcy) Gonczy and Lori (Rod) Dunkin both of Mantua, and Eric Gonczy of Cleveland; his dear brother Jim Gonczy of Burton; loving grandchildren Tom, Ben, Amy, Erin, Sara, Sam, Morgan, Makensie, Matthew, Madie Grace, Miles, and great-grandchild Remington, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
