Obituary

Burton N. Lang, 93 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Friday May 29, 2020 at UH-Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio. Mr. Lang was God’s Gift to Us on April 24, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Carlos and Velma (Horvath) Lang. Following graduation from East Tech High School in Cleveland, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A longtime Hiram area resident, he had been employed as a carpenter with Cleveland Local Carpenters Union. A former member of His Ministry in Aurora, presently Burt was a member of Friendship Alliance Church in Auburn Township. Burt will be remembered for the times he and Jean spent in Competitive Roller Skating in Cleveland, as well as him being a Roller Skating Judge. A gentleman with numerous interests he enjoyed gardening, Bee keeping, was a Boy Scout Leader, and was one of 500 ACE Award recipients. On October 30, 1957, he married his beloved wife Jean M. Lang who preceded him in death on October 20, 2009. Also preceding was his brother Valdon Lang. He is survived by his devoted  children Warren Lang of Columbia Station, Ohio, Catherine Eich of Hiram, and Susan (Richard) Hellman of Greenwood, S.C.; his dear sisters Audrey Seibert of California and Lois Markis of Arizonia; 7 loving grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and his caring God-daughter Jeanie Somoskey of Mantua.  A private funeral service will be held Tuesday June 2, 2020 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. For those unable to be a part of the funeral service, procession to the cemetery will form at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery Township, Ohio with a military tribute. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Holden Arboretum, 9550 Sperry Rd., Kirtland, Ohio  44094.
