MANTUA
Benjamin G. Prescott II, 76 years of age of Mantua, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Born in Whiteville, North Carolina, on September 14, 1946, he was the son of the late Rodney and Huldah (Jackson) Prescott. A Mantua area resident since 1995, he graduated from Hobbton High School in Newton Grove, North Carolina in 1964. He formerly resided in Greenville, North Carolina, where he attended East Carolina University and earned his degree in Philosophy in 1983. Ben was the owner-operator of Eagle Construction Company in Greenville, N.C., prior to being employed in construction management at C.T. Consultants. He served with honor in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the V.V.A. in Greenville. Ben served his community as a member of the Mantua Village Council for over 10 years. Ben will be remembered as a breeder of Airedale Terriers and the love that he had for his cats. On May 30, 1985, he married Renate (Lehmann) Prescott, who survives at home; and his sister-in-law Edie Cawley of Mantua. His children Benjamin Prescott-Ward, III, Melody (William) Cutler, Joseph E. (Margaret) Thompson, all of North Carolina; and grandchildren Zack Cutler, Charis Cutler-Strickland, Juliet Cutler, Tommy Thompson, Drake Thompson, William Edwards, and T. J. Edwards, survive. His sisters Betsy Sassano and Huldah Jones both predeceased him. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, 2:30 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home and Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt, 44, Mantua, Ohio, 44255, officiated by Mary Hanna. Full Military Honors will then be presented by The U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion, Post #193. To honor Benjamin Guilford Prescott II, please plant a tree.
