William “Bill” Elmer Butt, Sr., 91 years of age, passed away Monday September 2, 2019. Bill was born in Bobtown, Pennsylvania on March 26, 1928, the son of the late Walter and Alice (Geary) Butt. He had been employed as an electrician at General Motors, Euclid Plant retiring after 28 years of service. Bill served his country with honor during World War II as an airplane mechanic. A Mantua area resident since 1971, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering outside, always with a cold beer. On September 11, 1954, he married his beloved wife Glenda Farrell Butt who preceded him in death in 2001. Also preceding were his dear siblings Walter Butt, Betty Higdon, Alice Skach, Dorothy Elnikar and Margaret Sharpton. Bill is survived by his devoted children Bill (Geri) Butt of Streetsboro, Teri (Glenn) Beck of Mantua and Daryl (Rick) Butt of Cuyahoga Falls; dear brother Preston Butt of Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania; 11 loving grandchildren Rachel (Anthony) Trivisonno, Ryan (Amy) Butt, Rick (Stacey) Barnauskas, Katie (Brad) Long, Lexie (Adam) Frenk, Glenn Beck Jr., Michael Hinzman, Jacob Hinzman, Halle Butt, Jeff Hinzman, Carlos Butt, and 9 loving great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday September 6, 2019 from 4:00 P.M.- 6:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, where funeral services will begin at 6:00 P.M. Officiating will be Pastor Chad Delaney. Final resting place will be at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Ohio at a later date. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wildlife Central Office, 2045 Morse Rd., Building G-1, Columbus, Ohio 43229-6693.
