Sarita (Rita) Greene, 94 years of age, passed away Tuesday November 20, 2018 in Cleveland, Ohio. Born on December 25, 1923 in Richland Center, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Schuerman) Venard. A resident of Windham since 1950, Mrs. Greene retired in 1983 from the Windham Exempted Village School after 30 years as secretary at Katherine Thomas School. After retirement she worked at Sea World for 4 years, and did volunteering for a few years at Robinson Memorial Hospital and at the Windham Salvation Army Food Shelf for several years. Mrs. Greene was a member of the Windham United Methodist Church and was a member of the Dirt Daubers Garden Club for over 38 years. On July 2, 1947, she married her beloved husband Ralph Greene who preceded her in death on November 25, 2014. She also was preceded in death by her granddaughter Carrie Greene in 1992, her brother Alden Venard in 1995, and her sister Ruth Whiteis. She is survived by her devoted children Susan (Greg) McDivitt of Windham, Bruce (Karen) Greene of Garrettsville, and Richard (Connie) Greene of Sparks, Nevada; her dear sister Joan Wolter of Salisbury, Maryland; and 8 loving grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. No calling hours. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Greene will be held Saturday November 24, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at the Windham United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Greenberg officiating. A time of fellowship will immediately follow at the church for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her name to either the church, or to the Windham Salvation Army Food Shelf. Private burial will be held.
