Hubert A. “John” Taylor, 89 years of age, passed away Wednesday June 26, 2019 in Rockledge, Florida. John was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 12, 1930, the son of the late George and Thelma (Pincombe) Lourie. A lifetime Mantua resident, he was a member of the 1948 graduating class from Mantua High School. John was the owner-operator of Taylor’s Sohio in Mantua for several years, and then of Taylor Trucking Company for 25 years. A member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church, John was also a Charter Member of Crestwood Lions Club always willing to participate in all of their activities including the annual Christmas Tree Sale. John will be remembered for his warm and friendly smile, sharing stories, and his talkative personality, never knowing a stranger. On October 22, 1949, he married his beloved wife Genola Taylor who preceded him in death on April 10, 2012. Also preceding were his devoted sons Tris in 2014, Tim in 1972 and Todd in 1955, and his dear sisters Faye Fedor, Nancy Hildebrand, Mary Detweiler and Linda Taylor. He is survived by his devoted sons Thomas (Laura) Taylor of Shalersville and Ted (Sandy) Taylor of Mantua, and 7 loving grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. No calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 13, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Portage Faith United Methodist Church, 9922 State Route 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 with Rev. Carolyn Berry officiating. Private family burial at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either Crestwood Lions Club, or to Portage Faith United Church. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
