George H. Hazlett, 86 years of age, passed away Saturday September 1, 2018 at his residence. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 29, 1932, he was the son of the late George and Isabel (Howard) Hazlett. A graduate of Shaker Hts. High School in 1949, Mr. Hazlett then continued his education and graduated from Case Western University. Formerly of Russell Township, Mr. Hazlett was a longtime Mantua-Hiram area resident. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hazlett was the owner-operator the past 52 years of Camp Hi Canoe & Kayak Livery in Hiram Township where he established many friendships over the years. An avid reader of history books and articles, his knowledge of history and life was ongoing. His love of canoeing, and the outdoors was a passion that family and friends will forever remember of George. On June 14, 1957, he married his beloved wife Helen C. (Grueninger) Hazlett who survives at their home. Also surviving are his devoted children Caron Klemm of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kendra (David) Hazlett-Becker of Hiram and Jenny (Dan) Robertson of Chardon. His sister dear sister Karen Brown of Miami, Florida, and 7 loving grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild also survive. No calling hours. Cremation has been held. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Camp Hi Pavilion on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 3:30 P.M.
