Dr. Clarence Craig Ferris, 85 years of age, passed away Friday January 3, 2020 at his residence. Born in Manhattan, New York on September 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Samuel and Norma (Bourgeois) Ferris. Formerly of New York and Pennsylvania, he had been a resident of Aurora since 1991. Following graduation from Danbury High School in Danbury, Connecticut, Mr. Ferris earned his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and his Masters in Electrical Engineering, where he also taught at the University. He then earned his PHD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan and was employed in research and Development at Bendix and Phillips Sylvania. He had a PHD MD at Universidad Autonoma de Cd. Juarez in Mexico He was a member of Sigma Tau. He then worked as a physician and Surgeon at Veterans Administration hospitals in Erie, Pennsylvania, Youngstown, Ohio and Ravenna, Ohio. Walking around Sunny Lake and Cross Country skiing were enjoyments he had, yet those who knew him will always remember a man who loved helping people, both family and friends. On October 20, 1979, he married Nancy (Hensse) Ferris who survives at their home. Also surviving are his sons Sam (Terri Dent) Ferris of Ravenna, Ohio and Ian Ferris of East Amherst, New York; nephew Antonio Garcia (Monica Garcia), and their son Emiliano Garcia. He was preceded in death by his sister Norma Ferris, brother Adrian G. Ferris, and aunt Anna Sanchez. Calling hours will be Wednesday January 8, 2020 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 from 5:00 P.M.-6:30 P.M., where his funeral service will begin at 6:30 P.M. Officiating will be Rev. Edward Stafford of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mantua.
