David A. Sheller, 83 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Tuesday June 11, 2019 at Aurora, Ohio. Mr. Sheller was God’s Gift to Us on December 11, 1935 at the family home in Garrettsville, the son of the late Ray L. and Dorothy (Andrews) Sheller. A lifetime Garrettsville resident, he was a 1955 graduate of James A. Garfield High School, and active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Mr. Sheller began driving truck for his father at Sheller Trucking, and then retiring his truck driving career from Yellow Freight. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 407. Camping, fishing, boating and building bird houses were some of his favorite pastimes, yet the most cherished memories he created were playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the love and respect developed within the family. On September 3, 1955, he married his beloved wife Virginia “Ginger” (Lucas) Sheller who survives at home. Also surviving are his devoted children Polly A. (David) Winchell and Susan L. Pickett, both of Garrettsville, Mary T. (Jeffrey) Chance of Aventura, Florida; dear sisters Elizabeth “Betty” Sheller of Melbourne, Florida and Nancy Ross of Lakeland, Florida; 7 loving grandchildren and 6 cherished great-grandchildren. Mr. Sheller was preceded in death by his devoted children David “Tom” Sheller in 2004, Beverly R. Sheller in 2018, and son-in-law John Pickett in 2016. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday June 17, 2019, 10:00 A.M. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 10692 Freedom Street, Garrettsville, Ohio 44231 EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH). Officiating will be Rev. Steve Zeigler. Final resting place will follow at Drakesburg Cemetery, Freedom Township, Ohio.
