Helen M. Gelles, 86 years of age, passed away Saturday January 29, 2011 at her residence. Born on October 22, 1924 in Woodvale Hts., Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Brozyna) Regula. A resident of the Hiram Township-Garrettsville area the past 7 years, she formerly lived in Southington and Solon. She was a member of The Church of the Holy Angels in Bainbridge. A homemaker, Mrs. Gelles enjoyed gardening and cooking. On November 27, 1945, she married Alex Gelles who preceded her in death in 2000. Also preceding her was her brother Blaine Regula and sister Stella Brendorfer. Survivors include her daughter Kathleen Gelles-Baxter of Hiram Township, her son Alan (Regenia) Gelles of Cumberland, Ohio, brothers John and Edward Regula both of Pennsylvania, sister Frances Honkus of Hollsopple, Pennsylvania, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua . Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday February 3, 2011 11:00 A.M. at The Church of the Holy Angels, 18205 Chillicothe Rd., Bainbridge where visitation will also be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Rev. Fr. Clyde Foster will officiate at the mass, following which Mrs. Gelles will be laid to rest beside her husband at Mount Hope Cemetery in Solon, Ohio.
