Richard A. (Dick) Wise, 94 years of age, passed away Sunday February 11, 2018. A life-long resident of Portage County, Dick was born on April 1, 1923 in Kent, Ohio, the son of the late Glen and Marcella (Llewllyn) Wise. He graduated from Rootstown High School and was drafted and served four years in United States Army during World War II. He returned to the Rootstown area and began a custom building business (Bildershien & Wise) with long-time friend Michael Bildershien. During the later years of his profession, he shared his talents with many construction students at Maplewood Vocational School where he was a teacher. Throughout his 94 years of life, his hobbies and interests were vast, ranging from horticulture and wood carving to serving as Master of Unity Lodge # 12 F&AM in Ravenna, Ohio. For over 40 years he actively attended Alcoholics Anonymous where he not only gained personal strength but offered understanding and assistance to others in need. On October 23, 1948, he married Mae E. (Quinn) Wise, his wife of 70 years who survives at their home. Also surviving are his daughters Peggy Wise and Marsha (Rich) Ward both of Florida; his brother and friend Jim Wise of Ravenna; grandchildren Ryan and Aaron Kilpatrick, Jason Ward, Nicolette Black, and Hillary Black-Hoffman; great-grandchildren Madison, Brooklin, Jacob, Quinn, and Ellis. He was preceded in death by his daughters Susan Marie Kilpatrick and Connie Nadine Wise, and his sister JoAnn Gilbert. At his request, there will be no calling hours or services.
