LaVerne A. Koscher, 106 & ½ years young, passed away Sunday October 22, 2017 at her residence. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 16, 1911, she was the daughter of the late George and Nettie (Krupka) Graff. A. lifetime Cleveland resident, Mrs. Koscher was a homemaker for many years, and after her children were grown, she joined the Norfolk & Western Railroad in Cleveland where she became the Chief Clerk of the Piggy Back Office. Her typing and office skills were an inspiration for others who became employed in management at her place of employment. She and her husband then spent the winter months in Florida where they both enjoyed fishing, prior to which they spent their summers and weekends farming north of Garrettsville. While she enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, Mrs. Koscher was blessed with a love for music which included playing the piano. On July 27, 1929, Mrs. Koscher married Retired Cleveland Fire Dept. Captain of Engine 21, Adam Koscher who preceded her in death in 1964. Also preceding was her son Donald Koscher on January 20, 2017, and her brother Louie Graff. Survivors include her devoted son and daughter-in-law Retired Assistant Chief ACO CFD and Acting Chief CFD, Gordon (Dolores) Koscher of Mantua; her loving grandchildren Michael (Stephanie) Koscher, Michele (Dean) Smith and great-grandchildren Ella Koscher and Jack Koscher all of Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday October 28, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Ohio.
