Joseph William Cettomai, 70 years of age of Rootstown, passed away at home on Tuesday February 20, 2018 after a long illness. He was born on July 22, 1947 the son of the late Louis and Katherine (Maurer) Cettomai in Brockton, Massachusetts. After moving to Ravenna in 1955, he graduated from Ravenna High School in 1965, and Kent State University, majoring in accounting. He married Cheryl (Gauding) Cettomai on August 3, 1968. They moved to Kent in 1973, where they lived for over 20 years before moving to the “country”. Over the years, Joe was involved in things that were important to him- kids, sports and his dogs. He coached youth softball for years through the Kent Rec Program. He was involved with the Penn- Ohio Newfoundland Club and Newfoundland Club of America. He continued to help coach and cheer on his grandchildren and their teams. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, daughter Julie (Marcus) Cordonnier of Sullivan, Ohio, grandchildren Eric and Molly, Brother-in-law Jeff (Kathi) Gauding, Brother Robert (Tracy) Cettomai, and Sister Phyllis Cettomai. Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of Joe’s life will take place at a later date.
